Benedictine College

The two sponsoring institutions of Mount St. Scholastica Monastery and St. Benedict's Abbey are both Benedictine communities and the presence of the sisters and monks on the faculty, in administration, and on campus brings the Rule of St. Benedict to the forefront on a daily basis. MiraCosta College

Location: Oceanside
Description: The English Language Institute (ELI) offers international students the opportunity to increase their English language proficiency and develop the skills needed for success in a college or university in the United States. The program is designed for students with a minimum of one year English language training at high school or college level. This class may not be appropriate for advanced ESL students or students with a TOEFL score greater than 500 paper-based or 46 IBT. Students must be at least 18 years old.

Northern Arizona University

Location: Flagstaff

San Diego State University

Location: San Diego
Description: The American Language Institute (ALI) at SDSU offers advanced English students an easy way to sample one or two semesters of study at an American university without going through the regular university admissions process. SDSU offers more than 3,000 class sections each semester in more than 80 different academic fields. A large number of these classes have additional spaces available after SDSU students have enrolled. Semester at SDSU allows international students to take advantage of these extra spaces. Through this program, students can enroll in 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate units of SDSU courses. Credits earned are listed on a permanent SDSU transcript and may be transferable to other universities. Students who are not planning to participate in Optional Practical Training (OPT) can also choose to take a combination of intensive English courses and SDSU courses. For example, some students take an advanced academic writing class designed to help them complete their courses successfully. Semester at SDSU is for students who have met the TOEFL requirement or who have obtained high scores on the ALI placement tests. Some students who choose to come without an official exam score and do not meet the requirement may need to complete a semester or more of intensive English before enrolling in university courses.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Location: Carbondale
Description: Since 1966, Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) has been a successful intensive English program with a well-established international reputation. Students enjoy small class sizes and individualized attention in a beautiful natural environment. Located on the modern campus of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), the study environment is wholesome and peaceful, and students enjoy a world-class recreation center. Most students enjoy the beautiful forest and lake on campus, in addition to outdoor hiking, boating, camping, baseball games, sports, and contact with the friendly people of southern Illinois. Bordered by a 270,000 acre national forest and surrounded by several fishing and boating lakes, the city of Carbondale was named ‘The Best Small City in Illinois’ by Life in America’s Small Cities. Located in the ‘Heartland’ region of the U.S.A., residents enjoy a low cost of living combined with easy access to major cities like St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Nashville.

University of California at Los Angeles

Location: Los Angeles
Description: Study Abroad at UCLA is designed for international undergraduate students who are enrolled in degree programs in their home university and who wish to study at UCLA in order to earn and transfer academic credit toward their degree programs. Study Abroad at UCLA allows qualified international students from all over the world to enroll through UCLA Extension in regularly scheduled UCLA and UCLA Extension courses for academic credit during fall, winter, and spring quarters.
