The steps to obtain your visa are dependent on your acceptance at a university. Before taking any steps to obtain your visa you must first have applied and been accepted to a GEMS Global Study Abroad program.
| Step 1: Apply for GEMS Global Study Abroad. You must complete the GEMS Initial Review that includes information on the general admission requirements for Global Study Abroad.
Step 2: Select a program, complete the program specific application and submit the application with all of the supporting documentation. The university program you have selected will review your application and make a decision. GEMS cannot guarantee acceptance to your selected program. GEMS Admission Advising will assist you in completing your application, obtaining all of the required documents, and submitting the application to the university you have selected. Step 3: Upon acceptance to the program, the university will issue an I-20 form. This is necessary to apply for an F-1 student visa. After the I-20 has been issued you will be able to arrange an interview at the U.S. consulate in your home country, but first you will need to pay the required application fees and complete some additional forms required for your visa application. Step 4: Complete the interview process and receive your student visa. Be sure to bring all supporting documentation with you and be prepared to explain why Global Study Abroad will benefit you in the future. Important Links: |
